Uganda: we have recently completed work on a three man month project delivered 2004-2005 on the development of collective investment schemes (CIS) regulations in Uganda working with the Capital Markets Authority, funded by the FIRST Initiative.  Our tasks were to ensure harmonisation of the Ugandan CIS law with other East African Community laws governing CIS and to recommend amendments needed to bring it into line with international standards; to draft and finalise regulations governing collective investment schemes under the Collective Investment Schemes Act of 2003, and to develop regulatory practice in relation to licensing, monitoring and supervising these funds and their operators.
